Dr Caitlin Sheehan is Head of Department of Palliative Care at St George Hospital in Sydney and has been a Staff Specialist in Palliative Medicine at Calvary and St George Hospitals in the South Eastern Sydney Local
Health District since 2010. Her clinical interests include advanced cancer care, cardiac supportive care, pharmaceutical cannabis, and virtual palliative care.
Caitlin is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine. She is a conjoint lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

Adjunct Professor Sally Sara is Director of Nursing for the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia (PCFA), leading a team of over 110 specialist prostate cancer nurses in every state and territory in Australia. A clinician researcher and PhD candidate, Sally also holds a Master of Clinical Nursing and has over 35 years of nursing experience in a broad range of specialty areas, with a strong interest in improving health care and quality of life outcomes for men diagnosed with prostate cancer. Sally is an elected Councillor on the Coalition of National Nursing and Midwifery Organisations and represents the Australian College of Nursing on the Cancer Australia Intercollegiate Advisory Group. She is an Adjunct Professor in the University of Southern Queensland’s Centre for Health Research, and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Technology Sydney.

Nicole Lewis is a Clinical Lead, of the Specialist Nursing Program for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA), Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse and an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist at Goulburn Valley Health.
Nicole has over 30 years of nursing experience, holds a Diploma of Business and a postgraduate qualification in Cancer Studies. Her dedication to enhancing patient understanding and self-care during anti-cancer therapies led to the development of several projects, aimed at improving outcomes for advanced cancer patients.
Through her work, Nicole is committed to advancing cancer care and supporting patients in managing and improving their health and wellbeing.

Lucy has a background as a Registered Nurse and has worked for over two decades providing psychosocial support to people impacted by cancer through various supportive care programs. Lucy is currently a Nurse Counsellor with the Prostate Cancer Counselling Service at Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Voluntary assisted dying and advanced care directives - what clinicians need to know

Penny Hackett is President of Dying with Dignity NSW and has campaigned for voluntary assisted dying (VAD) laws since 2016.
She works as a finance and banking lawyer but spends most of her time advocating for VAD and end-of-life choice in NSW and around Australia.
With VAD laws now operating in all Australian states Penny is leading DWD’s efforts to raise awareness of VAD as an option for people with a terminal illness and to promote open and honest conversations within families and the community about death and dying and the vital importance of end-of-life planning.
